General Niobium information

Sometimes known as Columbium, this is a lightweight material with high malleability, ductility, and corrosion resistance.  It maintains excellent physical properties at high temperatures, and can be machined using high speed tooling with good lubrication.  Niobium is cold forged from ingot at room temperature, and has good cold working characteristics.

Niobium Corrosion Resistance

Niobium resists a wide variety of corrosive environments including mineral acids, salt solutions and more.  Although not as corrosion resistant as Tantalum, its lower price and greater availability makes Niobium a more attractive alternative for less demanding applications.
